Guinea Fowl. It's What's for Dinner.

Instead of "hunting," this post should be labeled "hunting light."
The girls are processing three guineas that came to our farm a long while back and have been eating a lot of feed and tormenting our chickens. Becky and Katie decided to kill two birds with one stone, or three birds with three .22 bullets, as the case may be, by eating them for dinner tonight.
I'll try hard to remember to photograph the dinner so you can enjoy tasty skinny African fowl vicariously through us.

Spring Gobbler Bouquet

I like it when a hunter goes out to kill a spring gobbler and comes home bearing a beautiful bouquet for me!

Fun, Fun, Fun

Today dawned perfectly crisp and sunny, just the right weather for the day before the autumnal equinox.
The girls awoke still giddy with excitement from their day of outdoor sports yesterday.
Here they are on the 4 wheeler.
And here are two more youngsters who also liked having fun near the same wildlife camera that snapped photos of my own young.

Annie Oakleys

The kiddos and Big Dan went target practicing today, and here's what Becky and Laura did from 25 yards with my .22 rifle.
They also enjoyed 4 wheeler riding and shooting with other guns and scopes.

Buck Licker Update

It's September 3rd. Do you know where your trophy bucks are?

Not at the buck licker.

Yet...

A Treat for Bambi

Mmmmm, yummy.
Which will he lick first, Wild Persimmon, or Sweet Acorn?
I have a sinking feeling that the trophy buck in the photo is false advertising for our hunting season.
Well, we have a few goats who may be enticed to walk in front of the 30-06 if the exotically flavored salt licks don't do the trick for Mr. Whitetail.
